I want to call attention to what I consider to be a serious blunder on the part of the State Bank of Pakistan. The thousand rupee note, which is a legal tender, has something on it which has no bearing on our country. Currency notes and stamps have always carried heads of state’s pictures or historical buildings, but amazingly our one thousand not has a Turkish flag imprinted on it instead of the Pakistani flag.

You don’t need too much effort to find the flagrant carelessness on the part of those who were at the helm of affairs during Musharraf’s era. It was in 2007 when the said gross mistake of printing Turkish flag on Rs 1000 note was discussed in the then National Assembly but nothing was done to correct the mistake which may be intentional or unintentional. The present government did nothing either. I would like to invite the attention of the governor of State Bank to look into this matter and rectify this mistake.
