Kite-less Basant

LAHORE - In view of received reports that many kite flyers were buckling-up to use deadly chemical string (dorr), the Punjab government has decided to withdraw kite flying from the Spring festivities which previously included 15 days long kite flying from February 20 to March 5 at Changa Manga. Sources say though the government had announced to provide strings and kites to flying fans, but on received reports of possible use of chemical string (responsible for many deaths in the past), the Punjab government has withdrawn its decision.  As such the government has taken decision not to make kite flying a part of spring festivities and hold spring fair festivities with other sport events and cultural and educational activities. The formal announcement in this regard will be made soon.
