Islamabad  - The teams of the enforcement directorate of the Capital Development Authority yesterday demolished several illegal constructions built on state land as the CDA diverted its attention towards Blue Area.

In a major crackdown, over 50 illegal shops, sheds, cabins and extra walls were demolished with Savour Foods being the most badly hit premises. The CDA teams entered the area with heavy machinery and removed illegal parking, cabins and stalls on the footpaths to clear passage behind the Savour Foods. Police and the magistrate provided cover to the CDA teams as it hit the installations. Air-conditioners and generators installed on the rare side of the city’s famous food chain and other violations were also removed. The windowpanes of the food outlet got smashed during the operation.

The traders started assembling against the operation and the CDA teams had to leave the scene. However, until then the enforcement team had done the job. According to the CDA officials, the operation would continue in the coming days.

These encroachments were not only causing inconvenience to the general public but were also a continuous nuisance for the commuters passing through this passage. In order to address the issue, chairman CDA had directed the enforcement wing to carry out comprehensive and joint operation for complete eradication of encroachments established illegally.
