BHAKKAR

At least eight persons were killed and 10 others injured when a truck collided head-on with a passenger coach on Layyah Road here on Monday morning.

Five other persons including two women were killed in separate incidents occurred in different areas on Monday.

In Bhakkar, the dead bodies and the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital. The identity of the victims could not be ascertained immediately.

According to Patrolling Police, the accident occurred when a passenger coach and truck collided on Layyah Road due to speeding. Rescue sources said that eight persons were killed on the spot.

A senior doctor at the DHQ Hospital feared that the death toll can rise as condition of some of the injured is critical.

The police have registered case and launched investigation into the incident.

In Faisalabad, a dumper hit a motorcycle near 46 Stand as result Nadia Bibi was killed on the spot while her husband sustained serious injuries. In Sargodha, a passenger coaster hit a motorcycle on Khushab Road, killing Muhammad Sultan instantly. Another dumper skidded off the road due to speeding and rammed into a pedestrian identified as Allah Yar who succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The Atta Police and Jhal Chakkian police have registered case against the drivers and started investigation.

Similarly a man was killed and another seriously injured in firing by armed men over a personal dispute in Salam Town here early Monday morning.

The killers managed to escape. The body and the injured were moved to a hospital.

In Shorkot, a woman was killed and her husband sustained critical injuries when a speeding truck knocked down their motorcycle near Sabir Chowk on Jhang Road on Monday.

The body and the injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
