Man booked for ‘sexually assaulting’ nephew

MARDAN - A 40-year-old man was booked for allegedly sexually assaulting his seven-year-old nephew in Munga area of Mardan on Thursday.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Saddar police station, sources said.

According to details, Saeed Ahmed, grandfather of the victim boy, lodged a complaint with the local police that Riaz allegedly sexually assaulted his grandson while he was visiting Riaz house along with his mother in Manga village.

He said the suspected man took his grandson to a guest house in the village and allegedly sexually assaulted him. The complainant further said the suspected man raised the volume of the Television while sexually assaulting him so that no one can hear his hue and cry. 

He said in order to protect her brother, the victim’s mother hide the incident from him, adding that he came to know when she was talking to someone on phone regarding the incident.

Following the incident, he brought his grandson to the District Headquarters Hospital for a check-up. The victim's grandfather also said that the police have arrested the suspect an investigation is underway from him.

It is important to mention here that in the last few days three incidents of sexual assault of children have been committed in the district. On January 13, an unidentified person sexually abused a four-year-old girl, Asma, a resident of Chandar Par Gujjar Ghari, and later her body was recovered from sugarcane fields.

Likewise, the same month a man, identified as Mohammad Nawab, a resident of Kharki, allegedly kidnapped a nine-year-old girl, Rubina, of the same village and took her to the sugarcane fields and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The police have registered separate cases against the suspected persons and started investigation from them.
