Murderer gets death sentence

KASUR - A local court sentenced a man to death for strangling his wife and handed down life imprisonment to another for shooting his rival dead here the other day.

According to the prosecution, Asif, resident of Dhari Rao Hashim, Raja Jang had strangled his wife Rabia Bibi on July 28, 2017 over some domestic issue. Raja Jang police registered a case against the accused on the complaint of Dalair, Rabia's father. The police arrested the accused and produced him in the court. In the light of evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Shahida Saeed sentenced Asif to death and fined him Rs100,000.

In another case, two brothers - Muzammil alias Poma and Hussain who were the drug-peddlers had shot dead Khalid in 2013 at Main Road Service Station for tipping off police against them. The incident had occurred in Mustafabad police precincts. The police registered a case against the suspects on the complaint of Nur Muhammad, Khalid's father. The police arrested the accused and produced them in the court. The ADSJ sentenced Muzammil to life in prison and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 upon him. Co-accused Hussain was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
