Supreme Court has taken suo moto notice on appointment of Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi's appointment as Pakistan Television (PTV) Chairman by ruling party. 

While taking the notice, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar said that this appointment seems illegal. "Qasmi was give Rs. 27 crore during his tenure of two years which were tax money of people of Pakistan," CJP observed. 

"This country is of poor people so how can one person by given this much amount of money," he asked. 

Furthermore, the apex court issued notices to former information minister Pervaiz Rashid and secretary prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad. 

"Should we also issue a notice to former prime minister in this case," asked the court. 

Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi remained chairman of state run TV for two years and resigned from his post on December 14, 2017.
