GUJRAT - A three-day training workshop for University of Gujrat (UoG) faculty members on conducting examinations started here at Hafiz Hayat Campus.

The workshop titled, “Examinations and Performance Evaluation” was organized by Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the varsity in collaboration with HEC’s Learning Innovation Division. It was aimed at providing an opportunity to young teachers from various UoG departments to learn the ropes of conducting successful examination and how to evaluate performance using modern techniques in teaching.

Registrar Dr Tahir Aqil was the chief guest with Director QEC Dr Rashid Saeed in the host’s chair. Dean Prof. Dr Muhammad Faheem Malik, Chief Librarian Kazim Ali Syed and Director Evening Programme Dr Shahzad Sarfraz were among the guests of honour.

“Teachers are always viewed as a beacon of light for young students. The overall importance of the role they play the students’ academic journey cannot be called into question,” Dr Tahir Aqil told the participants in his opening address on the occasion.

Dr Rashid Saeed threw ample light on the most modern and innovative techniques being employed by the QEC to keep the faculty abreast of latest developments with regard to holding of examinations and performance evaluation to achieve educational and academic excellence.

The workshop resource person Chairman Education Department University of Sargodha Dr Muhammad Sarwar stressed the importance for examinations as the most effective means for the assessment of abilities and behavioural trends among the students. He emphasized that the prescribed syllabus and course outline go a long way in raising the standard of education and character-building of students. Dr Bashir Gondal and Dr Mubinul Islam are the other resource persons. Deputy Director QEC Azmat Farooq was the coordinator while Deputy Director QEC Dr Zakiuz Zaman moderated the proceedings at the three-day workshop.
