At least seven persons including a bank officer, a police constable and a passerby child were killed when armed motorcyclists opened fire at a car here in Gujrat on Monday.
According to police, two armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at a double cabin vehicle of bank officer Muhammad Sharif in, tehsil Kharian of Gujrat, Guliana Police Station jurisdiction.
As a result of firing six car riders and a passerby 11 year old child were killed on the spot. The attackers fled from the scene after committing the crime.
The deceased included bank officer Muhammad Sharif, police constable deployed for his security Shafique, Raja Mubeen, Raja Usman, Raja Mehboob and Raja Younis while identity of the deceased child could not be confirmed.
The police said that firing incident was outcome of old rivalry over property dispute.
It should be mentioned that Raja Asghar, brother of deceased bank officer was killed some six months back in fire exchange over the same property dispute with the rivals.
A case has been registered against unknown murderers and police have started search for them. Killing of seven citizens created fear and panic in the area and people demanded the nabbing of the murderers.
