MQM to table 20th Amend bill today


KARACHI  - Deputy Convener Rabita Committee Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the MQM will introduce 20th constitutional amendment bill in the Parliament on January 2, for the creation of Hazara and Southern Punjab provinces.
He was speaking to a gathering of Hazara and Seraiki community people who visited Nine-Zero in the form of rallies for expressing their joy over the submission of the resolution in the National Assembly by the MQM, seeking creation of the new provinces in the country, said a party press release on Sunday.
Dr Sattar said that the MQM would also submit resolutions in the National Assembly and the Senate for giving autonomy to tribal areas of the country with a view to ending the sense of deprivation among the tribal people. He added that consultations were being held on the draft of the amendment in this regard, and 20th constitutional amendment would be introduced in the Parliament for this purpose. The leader said that the creation of a new province in southern Punjab, and Hazara province was the need of the hour. He said that it was necessary for political and economic stability of the country. If Pakistan has to be saved, then the people of Pakistan must be empowered and included in the process of decision-making, he said.
The MQM leader said if the people of the country have a sense of participation in running the affairs of the country, Pakistan would make great progress and obtain its rightful position in the comity of nations. Dr Sattar said that the MQM was not a political party of any particular group.
