KHYBER AGENCY - Eight militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban, Tariq group, were killed while a Frontier Crops (FC) personnel was martyred in a clash between the militants and FC on Sunday.

Sources said the security forces raided a house in Karamna, area of tehsil Landi Kotal, as they received information of the presence of militants in the area. They said the forces took action and raided the house of one Alamgir Afridi in Karamna village, adding that several TTP, Tariq group, militants were found in the house. They said sensing danger, the militants opened fire on the raiding security personnel. The forces retaliated, on which a trade of fire started between the two.

The sources said Tariq group's commander Qari Kamran and seven other militants, whose identity could not be ascertained, were killed in the clash. The dead bodies of the militants were shifted to Landi Kotal, Army Garrison, an official said. He said four suspected children and three women were also arrested. FC media cell said one FC soldier was also killed in the clash, while two others sustained bullet injuries.

Locals said 11 volunteers of TTP were killed in the fighting. The sources said helicopters were also used during the raid in order to monitor the militants movement in the area.
