OKARA - Dacoits snatched mobiles from a shop and cash while separately a villager was deprived of gold ornaments wroth millions of rupees here.

In the first incident, twelve dacoits snatched mobiles from a shop and cash of Rs1.5 million. The dacoits stormed into the shop Mohammad Ramzan of Factory Area, Sargodha in 38/2.R, held the persons present there at gunpoint and snatched cash and other valuables. Then, car riders made off with gold ornaments worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from village Fattoaana here. One Abdur Razzaq alleged that Imran along with 10 accomplices came to Fattoaana in a car and told the residents that they could double the money or jewellery. Meantime, some persons gave them ornaments. Also Abdur Razzaq showed them jewellery worth Rs500,000 and they forcibly snatched it.

WINE SEIZED; ONE HELD: The Okara police have seized liquor and arrested on suspect. During a raid in 49/3.R, the police tried to arrest Abdus Sattar but he managed to escape and left behind 20 litres of wine. In the other raid in 12/1.R, the police arrested Sabir and impounded 5 litres of wine from his possession.

ABDUCTION: A 60-year-old person was abducted by eight persons. Reports said a resident of Haveli Lakha, Mohammad Iqbal, said that his brother Sher Muhammad was on the Juma Khan Road, Haveli Lakha, when Mohammad Yunis, Noor Muhammad among 8 persons allegedly kidnapped his brother.

MAN SHOT AT: Three persons opened fire at a young man over a petty dispute in village Basirpur here. Naeem Hussan was standing outside his house. Suddenly, Irfan, Imran and Faisal came and opened fire at him. Resultantly, he suffered serious injuries.

Need stressed to facilitate students: The Sahiwal Division commissioner has said the better facilities should be provided to students to get excellent results in education.  “The success of position holders is the result of their hardworking and special care of their parents,” Qazi Muhammad Ashfaq said while addressing a prize distribution ceremony and annual Parents Day in District Public School here. The DPS’ results at provincial level are self explanatory proof its efficiency, he added in the ceremony which was also attended by DCO Saif Anjum, District Officer (Education) Tariq Karim Khokhar, Principal Firdous Ahmad, teachers, parents and a large number of students.

He directed the DCO to discuss demands and suggestions raised by the school principal in the meeting of Board of Governors. A the conclusion, the commissioner distributed prizes among the position holders. Earlier, the commissioner addressed a meeting of the Development Committee. He said schools should be provided furniture on priority basis. He directed the EDO (Education) to prepare a modality for the provision of scholarship to the exceptional students. He further said the shortage of teachers in schools should also be redressed, by filling vacant posts.

REVENUE OFFICERS WARNED: The additional district collector on Saturday pledged to meet the target of recoveries from defaulters at all costs and no excuses would be accepted. Zaheer Abbas presided over a revenue officers’ meeting also attended by Renala Khurd Assistant Commissioner Shakeel Aslam, Depalpur AC Suhaib Iqbal. Mr Zaheer advised the revenue officers to ensure total recoveries of government revenue.

He directed for deciding all the pending cases lying with the department. He also ordered to take action against defaulters without discrimination and no political pressure be accommodated. He warned the officers to discharge their duties efficiently or strict action would be taken against them.

Body found : A mutilated dead body of an unidentified young girl was found in Canal Gogera Branch near Mopalka Okara.  The Chuchak police reached the site and pulled the body out of the canal. Taking the body into custody, the police shifted the body to the DHQ Hospital for post mortem.
