HAFIZABAD - Growers across the district have vehemently protested against the further rise in the POL prices and electricity and gas tariff, saying that this tsunami of price-hike will deal ‘final’ blow to the otherwise dying national economy.

Speaking to reporters here, Kissan Board Pakistan (KBP) Divisional President Amanullah Chatha said that exorbitant rise in the POL prices would badly affect the food production in the country.

Meanwhile, Housewives Association has strongly condemned the increase in the tariff of electricity and sui gas. Housewives have also protested against low pressure of sui gas due to which cooking in houses have become impossible.

RESCUE 1122 RESPONDED 3,625 CALLS: Rescue 1122 had responded 3,625 emergency calls, pertaining to various incidents and mishaps and provided medical aid to 7,010 people across the district during 2011.

Briefing the reporters on the performance of Rescue 1122 in the outgoing year Sunday, District Emergency Officer Sibghat Ullah, Rescue and Safety Officer Shoukat Ali, In-charge Control Room Imtiaz and Station Coordinator Faiz Ullah informed that during 2011, Rescue 1122 received 3,625 emergency calls including 1,612 of fire related incidents, 1616 of road accidents, etc. During these emergencies 3,819 injured people were provided medical aid while 3,191 shifted to different hospital for medical treatment,” they added.

Moreover, scores of seminars and walks were organised to create awareness among the masses about dengue virus and 3180 male and female students were imparted training to prevent dengue fever.
