Former president Supreme Court Bar Association and former Justice Tariq Mehmood has excused from becoming amicus curie in presidential reference.

Tariq Mehmood said there were objections by certain people about his remarks in the case and therefore he cannot become amicus curie.

Meanwhile son of former Chief Justice Anwarul Haq, Azizullah has submitted an application in the Supreme Court that he too be listened in the case to meet the demands of justice. CJ Anwarul Haq was heading the Supreme Court which delivered judgment awarding death sentence to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The bench resumed hearing of a presidential reference, regarding revisiting of late premier Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's murder case sent to it under Article 186 invoking its advisory jurisdiction.

The larger bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Nasir ul Mulk, Justice Jawwad S. Khawja, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, Justice Tariq Parvez, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani and Justice Amir Hani Muslim, took up the presidential reference sent to apex court under Article 186.

The court has asked the federation that has any closed case ever been revived under the presidential reference.

Babar Awan, counsel for the referring authority continued his arguments. During proceedings amicus curie former Justice Tariq Mehmood asked the court to be relieved of his responsibility as a party in the case has objected over him. The court accepted his request.
