KARACHI – The progress of the setting up of wind energy projects in Sindh was reviewed as the Federal Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar visited the Sindh Secretariat and met with the Chief Secretary Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas.

Senior Member Board of Revenue,  Shahzar Shamoon, and Secretary Investment Sind, Younas Dagha, were also present besides other officials.Syed Naveed Qamar said that the preference would be given to the projects which opted for fast track operation, a survey team of District Revenue officers and AEDB surveyors has jointly identified land in Thatta and Jamshoro areas for the first instance, the availability report, thereof was sent to the Ministry of Water and Power.

The Minister was also apprised that seven projects with total capacity of 690 MW have been cleared by the committee concerned,  whose sponsors had undertaken with AEDB to proceed on fast track basis, as well as six more projects having the capacity of 632 MW were also cleared accordingly.

The statement said that the next meeting would be held on January 6 in which the future line of action would be determined. The Minister expressing satisfaction over the progress and noted that employment opportunities would be generated..

 Chief Secretary assured that all out efforts would be made on behalf of  the Sindh Government to this effect.
