SAHIWAL - PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that impartial caretaker government and independent Election Commission were necessary for the general elections to be held transparently and fairly.
“In by-elections, the Punjab government flouted all the ethics, rules and regulations and frustrated the masses. The PTI will bring change in the masses’ mindset and the governmental system. Our party has completed its homework to reform the labour, education, health, energy and foreign policies,” said Qureshi while addressing an Insaf Youth Wing convention.
He further said that the Youth Wing members were beads of rosary and there was no gulf between old and new workers. He added that the masses had been disappointed and pinned hope on the PTI which what he said had become a ray of hope for them. He said that according to foreign observers Pakistan was at number 7 in the most corrupt countries while she is at top in the list of biggest unsafe country of the world.
“Loadshedding of electricity and gas has created panic among the masses. According to a NAB report, Rs10-12 billion is being embezzled daily while there has been no investment in any sector in the country. He said that in the history of Pakistan, the country witnessed the lowest investment. He said that because of flawed agricultural policies, the sector was being ruined as input expenditures have increased manifold with reduced output rate. He added that the sector had become non profitable.
He further added, “No country is ready to grant visa to our citizens whereupon opportunities of higher education and job in abroad had been diminished. Being disappointed, the national youth is trying to be settled abroad. All the political parties have become bankrupt and the rulers have no vision. The masses gave mandate to mainstream political parties, but all the parties have failed to deliver or redress the problems of the masses. Every sector is deteriorating with every passing day.”
He said that the government had failed to increase literacy rate, on the other hand the issues of unemployment and poverty are deteriorating with 35% people living below the poverty line. In the present scenario, the common man had pinned hope on Imran Khan, he said and added, “Now it depends upon us, whether we want to eliminate our disappointment or increase it.”
He also said that some columnists were spreading rumors that some more office-bearers would defect the PTI and there were factions in the party. He said that the PTI was the only party which has 7 to 8 million members having cards. He said that these members will elect their leaders at every stage.
He said that according to the voters’ lists, 47 % voters are between 18 to 35 years age and in the forthcoming general elections, the PTI would give 25 % party tickets to the youth while his party had prepared the leadership of future at every stage. “We have chalked out our future policy to get rid of the prevailing crises. Qureshi observed that the party ticket would be given to deserving women therefore his party opposed the reserved seats for women. He said, “Our struggle is becoming fruitful. We have to water this sapling with unity and the time has come for the PTI to rule. We will learn a lesson from our mistakes at every stage. The parliamentary boards at central and provincial levels are being constituted. Party tickets will be given to honest persons, having spotless career in consultation with the local workers.”
He said, “We have kicked facilities and joined the PTI and now we will not bargain on principles and honesty. He said that future was of the PTI that will be new edition in the history of Pakistan. We are determined to change the corrupt system because the corrupt politicians have ruined the country.” On the occasion, PTI leaders including Rai Hassan Nawaz, Anwarul Haq Ramay, Noraiz Shakoor, Sheikh M Chohan, Hafizul Haq Kiani, M Shafiq Khan, M Omer, Ziaur Rehman Khan, Masood Sadiq, Shakeel Niazi, Rao Zaid Bin Ismail, Rao Aslam Khan, M Yar Dhakoo, Ehsanul Haq, Mian Shahid Ali and a large number of other leaders and youth wing members were also present.
