As long as PPP followed the legacy of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in letter and in spirit, it lived in the hearts and minds of people of Pakistan. It is tragic that Benazir’s widower, who inherited the party leadership, has reduced this countrywide party to a level of a regional party, shrouded in controversies of corruption, scams, cronyism and abuse of power. For five years Asif Zardari ruled this country with all power to implement his policies. He not only failed the aspiration of the people who voted for his party, but betrayed the vision of its founding members, paying only lip service. Nor did he make any serious attempt to bring to justice his wife’s murderers.
Young Bilawal is now entering politics. He has to make a very clear choice; either to follow the legacy of ZAB or Hakim Ali Zardari and Asif Zardari!
Enough blood has flown down river Indus and the land that it irrigates. The PPP can no longer afford to be the symbol of corruption and mismanagement. They have to cleanse their party of crooks who stole state assets under direct patronage of this party. If Bilawal wants any future in Pakistan he has to clean his act, do some good for the poor, in consonance with the philosophy of his party.
