Islamabad - In continuation of its campaign against nonconforming use of houses, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) yesterday sealed four more houses in different sectors of the city.

The sealed premises include: house number 3, street number 36, F-6/1 (warehouse/show room); house number 44, street number 36, F-6/1 (bakery); house number 122, street 11, E-7 (beauty parlour); and house number 198, street 70, F-10/3 (warehouse). After the CDA action of Friday, the total number of sealed outlets/premises stands at 74 and building control section of CDA will continue this campaign. On the other hand, operation against encroachments in different areas of the city is continuing. The anti-encroachment teams of CDA’s Enforcement Directorate removed encroachments from Markaz G-9 (Karachi Company) and confiscated 11 truckload articles. Meanwhile, the CDA anti-encroachment operation got flak from traders resulting in a violent clash in Sector G-10.

Windowpanes of several vehicles were broken as traders stoned the CDA machinery. The CDA initiated operation by removing goods placed outside shops. Traders launched protest against the operation. Police and protesters clashed and manhandled one another. The CDA’s trucks and other vehicles got their windowpanes broken. However, a heavy contingent of police was called to control the situation.

The violent clash resulted in postponement of the anti-encroachment operation. According to the traders, operation was launched without any prior notice.
