The Factory Area Police shot dead an outlaw in a shootout on Motorway near Faizpur Interchange in the wee hours of Friday.

However, eight other dacoits managed to escape the scene.

According to the police, nine highwaymen were looting motorists at a picket set up on Motorway near Faizpur Interchange. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of the dacoits, the police rushed the scene but had to face indiscriminate firing from the outlaws when they saw the police coming towards them. The police retaliated with firing and the crossfire continued for a while. As a result, a robber later identified as Waqar was killed while other accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness. The police said that the dead dacoit was wanted in dozens of heinous crime cases registered at different police stations. The police shifted the dead body to hospital and started further investigation.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver was shot dead by two unidentified robbers on Faisalabad Road near Ferozewattwan on Friday morning. The deceased identified as Shahid, a resident of Jandiala Road locality, was transporting some consignment on his rickshaw to Shahkot from Sheikhupura.

As he reached near Ferozewattwan Interchange, two robbers intercepted him at gunpoint. However, the bandits shot at and killed him when he attempted to overpower them. He was, reportedly, the sole bread-earner of his family. The Bhiki Police started investigation into the incident.
