LAHORE: Yet in another episode of negligence and gloss over, the national flag carrier had to cough up 5000 Dirham to Dubai immigration authorities after one of its plane landed there with a woman passenger, who was traveling at her son’s passport.

According to sources, Afshan Siddiqui, a Pakistani origin UK national, traveled to Dubai in flight PK-203 on December 16, 2015, on her son Zain Ahmad’s passport after she was issued a boarding pass by immigration authorities at the Lahore airport. Soon after the plane landed in Dubai, immigration authorities there not only sent Siddiqui back to Pakistan, but also slapped a fine of 5000 dirham on the PIA for negligence.

After the fiasco, an inquiry committee was formed, which held two PIA employees --- Salim Chohan and Nadim Taj --- and two immigration officials ---Muhammad Ali and Tanvir--- responsible for the negligence. On the recommendation of the inquiry committee, sum worth 5000 dirham was deducted from salaries of the two PIA officials, while immigration officials ASI Muhammad Ali and constable Tanvir were sacked over the negligence.
