Open manhole claims teen’s life

Islamabad - A 16-years-old boy died here yesterday at Federal Government Services Hospital (Poly Clinic) who critically injured and got unconscious after falling into an uncovered manhole last evening near Melody Market, a police source said.
He said that Arbab used to work with his father running a tailor shop in Melody Market. Last evening, he was going to Aabpara from Melody Market when he fell into an uncovered manhole near `Rehmania Masjid’. Due to inhaling poisonous gas after falling into gutter, he became unconscious and also got serious injuries. The passer-by took him out and shifted him at Poly Clinic Hospital.
He was given treatment there but he succumbed to his injuries after struggling for life for almost 12 hours in hospital.
Later, the heirs of Arbab staged protest on Friday morning against Capital Development Authority (CDA) after placing his body at Aabpara chowk. Police team of Aabpara police station reached there and managed to disperse the protestors after successful negotiations with his family members.
Further investigation is underway into matter, source added.
