ISLAMABAD - The meeting of 16th Working Group, a sub-committee of the Tripartite Commission on countering Improvised Explosive Device (IED), was held Tuesday at General Headquarters. Delegates from Afghan National Army (ANA), International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and Pakistan Army participated. The session lasted for two days in which the participants dwelt at length on measures to counter IED threat faced by the civil population as well as security forces on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border. At the end of the meeting, participants expressed their satisfaction over the progress made so far since establishment of the Working Group as a sub committee of the Tripartite Commission. The Working Group resolved to take forward the good work already done through more intimate cooperation in the field of countering IED. Director General Disaster Response ANA Brigadier General Mohammad Saleem led the Afghan delegation while Brigadier General Jim Hutton was heading the ISAF team and Pakistan side was led by Brigadier Muhammad Farooq Murawat.
