ISLAMABAD- Syed Amir Hamza Gillani took over the charge of the office of the Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) on Tuesday here for the next two years. He joined the PSB and was introduced to directors of PSB in his office. He had joined PSB on November 21, 1983 and remained Director PSB Coaching Centre. He also served as Director Sports Punjab from April 20 1995 to March 6 1997 on deputation basis with the government of Punjab. He was promoted as Deputy Director General PSB Coaching Centre Lahore on January 31, 2004. Gillani is former international athlete and represented Pakistan in international competitions in West Germany, Iran, Turkey and China. Also, represented Pakistan in the World University Games 1981 held in Bucharest (Romania). He inked Punjab University record in shot put discipline in year 1974 and Pakistan Inter-Board record in year 1973. He also created Punjab record in the 58th Punjab Olympic Championship 1981. Also, Amir Hamza won the gold medal in National Athletics Championship and National Games in 1981 at Peshawar. He also claimed gold medal in Triangular Athletics Meet at Lahore in 1980 and Quaid-e-Azam International Meet at Lahore in 1981. He was also part of national contingent which represented Pakistan in the 2nd Indoors Asian Games 2007, held at Macao and performed the duties of secretary-cum-treasurer.
