Karachi (PPI) - Federal Secretary for Labor Asif Hayat visited Kalsoom Bai Valika Hospital here on Tuesday and inspected available medical facilities. Workers Welfare Board Secretary Saeed Ahmed Khan, Provincial Secretary Labor Allamuddin Bullo, SESSI Commissioner Hashim Raza Zaidi, and Medical Advisor Dr Shah Mohammad Noonari were also present on the occasion. The federal secretary said Valika Hospital is the biggest medical center in industrial area providing better healthcare facilities to the workers. He said a Burns and Trauma Centre was needed to be established in the hospital for which federal government would provide funds through the Workers Welfare Board. He said a certificate course should be started here by upgrading nursing school. The secretary said new ambulances for the hospital would soon be started by the Workers Welfare Board, to facilitate the workers. Earlier, Medical Superintendent of Hospital Dr Abdullah Memon said this was an old hospital of the area, which was purchased by SESSI from SITE Limited in 1976. He said 472 patients visit OPD on daily basis and 35 patients are admitted every day. The facilities of CT Scan, Ultrasound, X-Ray and Lab tests are also available here, he added. "This hospital also provides teaching facility for Hamdard University. Some 19 consultants, 48 RMOs and other doctors are performing their duties in the this hospital," the MS said.
