ISLAMABAD - Iranian women football team will be featuring in the 5th National Women's Football Championship of Pakistan, which will start from July 29 here at Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. Secretary Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Col (Retd) Ahmedyar Lodhi told The Nation Wednesday that as many as 16 teams would fight for the top honour. "Young Rising Football Club will defend the title. As many as 12 teams took part in the 4th edition of the prestigious women's national soccer fixture," he added. "Afghanistan participated in the national championship last year as a guest team while this time Iran will visit Pakistan for the competition. Besides Iran, Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab, NWFP, AJK, Islamabad, Sports Sciences Lahore, WAPDA, Police and defending champions Young Rising Club will compete in the national soccer event. Each two club from Sindh and Balochistan and one from Mardan will also participate in the event, "he added.
