ISLAMABAD - Security forces have killed five terrorists apprehending three others from Swat and Dir while one soldier embraced Shahadat in the ongoing operation against miscreants. Twelve army personnel including an officer were also injured during the last 24 hours. According to an update issued by ISPR, Wednesday, a number of terrorists were killed and injured by the local lashkar while clearing Shatkas Village of militants. Around 22 persons as part of local lashkar also got injured, during the clean up operation. Security forces cleared Shah Dheri and established link up at Langar in Swat. In an exchange of fire with terrorists five soldiers were injured in Devolai village. A search operation was carried out by security forces around Matta, and three terrorists were apprehended while an officer was injured in exchange of fire with terrorists. Security forces consolidated their positions and searched for suspected terrorists locations at Dangram, Kukarai Jambil and Meragai. In Dir, lashkar conducted house-to-house search in Shatkas. More than half of the village is under control of lashkar. An exchange of fire between lashkar and terrorists is taking place inside the village with trapped terrorists. In exchange of fire a number of terrorists were killed and injured, whereas 21 lashkaris were also injured. Security forces cleared area around Dewana Baba-the route to Shangla from Buner. Four IEDs were neutralized and four houses of terrorists were demolished. Terrorists raided security forces check-post near Hindi Khel in Bannu. Resultantly, one soldier embraced shahadat and 6 others were injured, while 5 terrorists were killed. In the Relief and Restoration of Services sector, four trucks carrying food and relief items were distributed amongst the dislocated people of Malakand while repair work on Takhtaband Bypass is in progress by Army Engineers. The authorities concerned distributed 5,219 cash cards on Tuesday.
