LAHORE A spokesman of the Punjab government has strongly contradicted the news item that at a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Punjab, a decision had been taken to launch an operation in Southern Punjab. In a press release issued here on Thursday, the spokesman described the news item as totally baseless and misleading and said no such meeting had taken place at CMs Secretariat on Thursday. Senior PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, while talking to The Nation, also confirmed no meeting had taken place. Earlier, a news agency had run a story quoting the meeting where it was decided to launch operation against terrorists in different areas of the provincial capital and in South Punjab in accordance with the information obtained from the detainee terrorists of attack on Ahmadis worship places.
