LAHORE-Central PML-Q leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi Thursday said that precious agriculture land in south Punjab was being tuned into a desert due to flawed policies of Punjab government. Talking to a PML delegation from south Punjab at his residence here, Pervaiz said that Punjab was an agricultural province, but government was not paying heed to water problem in the region. He said unjust distribution of water in Bahawalpur had forced the farmers to launch Long March against the government. He alleged that inefficient Punjab CM was unaware of farmers problems caused due to closure of Chashma-Jehlum link canal and Dajal canals. Mr Elahi urged the government to ensure fair distribution of water among different regions of the province. He said farmers Long March was expression of no-confidence against Punjab rulers. He said unfair distribution of irrigation water had caused great unrest among the cultivators who were facing a drought like situation. 150 shops on Khayaban-e-Jinnah sealed The Town Planning Wing and Enforcement Directorate of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Thursday sealed more than 150 shops, show-rooms and real estate offices situated at the either sides of Khayaban-e-Jinnah, leading from Shaukat Khanum to Raiwand Road. Three marriage halls, two bakeries and a number of fast food outlets were also closed down during the operation. All these plots fell in the category of residential properties. Moreover, further commercialisation along the said road has been banned in the new commercialisation policy. The LDA staff also demolished encroachments and illegal constructions at four places during the drive.
