THE saga of fake degree continues to haunt the legislators as another lawmaker, Amir Yar Waran of PPP, from NA-184 Bahawalpur, has resigned from National Assembly over the issue, reported a private TV channel on Thursday. The lawmaker tendered his resignation to Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza, which she accepted on Thursday. The Supreme Court during its hearing on June 17 sought graduation degree record of the MNA from Bahawalpur and Balochistan universities on July 2. A three-member bench of the apex court, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, was hearing a petition filed by Mian Najibuddin Owais of the PML-Q, challenging the graduation degree of Amir Yar Waran. The petitioner contended that Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai University had notified Amirs degree as bogus. He said afterwards Amir made another person to take BA exam in his place through Bahawalpur University. However, he was caught and declared ineligible for three years, he said. He said Amir, however, managed to get a BA degree from Balochistan University.
