One more kid lost life to measles at a city hospital on Monday, taking death toll to 85.

Muhammad Abubakar, six months, breathed his last at Children’s Hospital Lahore. So far 182 children have lost lives to measles in the province. As many as 43 measles patients were brought to different hospitals in the province on Monday including 3 in Lahore. So far 20,468 measles cases have been reported from across the province including 5,584 in Lahore.

Separately, Punjab Health Secretary Hassan Iqbal directed the officials to complete paper work for the promotion of associate professors (grade-19) to the posts of professors (grade-20) by July 22 for convening meeting of Provincial Selection Board.

He issued these directions while talking to a seven member delegation of Pakistan Medical Association that called on him on Monday. The PMA delegation included Dr Tanvir Anwar, Dr Izhar Ch, Dr Ibrar Ashraf Ali, Dr Asma Ansari, Dr Kamran Saeed, Dr Ehsan-ur-Rehman, Dr Zia Zulqarnain, Dr Masood Akhtar Sheikh and Dr Haq Nawaz Bharwana.

During the meeting various issues of the doctors came under discussion including ban on ex-Pakistan leave, seniority list of the doctors, adhoc and regular appointment of doctors and faculty of new medical colleges. 

The secretary assured the delegation that no hurdle would be tolerated and all the bottlenecks would be removed in the way of promotion of doctors, preparation of seniority list and other matters. He said that the issues of medical community were being solved on priority basis.–Staff Reporter
