SIALKOT-The district administration has ordered the authorities concerned to complete new building for Govt Kh Safdar Medical College till June 22, 2014, as the Punjab government has been spending Rs596 million on the mega project. The medical college was being established on 23, 670 square feet area made after the demolition of old offices of the Sialkot Health Department.DCO Lt (r) Iftikhar Ali Saahu said this while talking to the newsmen here on Monday after reviewing the pace of construction on the project. He said that 70 per cent construction of the college's boundary walls had been completed while the construction of separate hostels for male and female medical students was briskly underway. Meanwhile, MPA Ch Muhammad Ikram told the newsmen that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had allocated a special grant of Rs100 million in the provincial budget for fiscal year 2013-14 for ensuring timely completion of Govt Kh Safdar Medical College. SCCI welcomes special subsidy during Ramzan: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has welcomed special subsidy of Rs2 billion on daily-used commodities by the Punjab government during the fast-approaching holy month of Ramzan. In a press statement issued here on Monday, the SCCI President urged the government to ensure the provision of the daily-used commodities in Ramzan Bazaars, besides, making sincere efforts to ensure their quality and standard with a sole aim to provide maximum financial relief to people during Ramzan.
