Fazl raps govt for taking terror as street crime

MULTAN-Chief of his faction JUI Maulana Fazlur Rehman lashed out at the government on Monday, saying it failed to realise the gravity of terrorism issue and treated this problem like street crimes.He observed this while talking to the journalists here at the residence of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani on Monday. He called on the ex-premier to discuss the kidnapping of Gilani's son.Maulana maintained that the government did not take any serious measures to combat terrorism. He regretted that the bloodshed continued on the southern borders of the country for the last 30 years, suggesting to the government to implement the resolutions passed by the previous parliament besides framing a balanced foreign policy for maintaining peace in the zone. He asked the government to forge friendly ties with the neighbouring countries. He expressed sympathy with Gilani on the kidnapping of Syed Ali Haider Gilani and assured his full support for his recovery.Speaking on the occasion, Gilani stressed the need for the promotion of politics of reconciliation to end lawlessness and terrorism, warning that if it was not done the country would plunge into more chaos. He held that there were several incompetent politicians in the country but "I am the only politician who was disqualified. Responding to a question he said no clue has been found about his kidnapped son Ali Haider Gilani nor has any one contacted them in this regard. No one has contacted him for recovery of his son nor has any one accepted responsibility for kidnapping him, he added. 'We are in contact with administration and agencies in connection with recovery of Ali Haider Gilani", he underlined.MANGO FESTIVAL: The three-day mango festival will commence from July 5 and mango growers from entire South Punjab region will participate in it. This was disclosed by the DCO Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah while chairing a meeting held to review arrangements for the festival. Addressing the meeting, the DCO said that the mangoes grown in Multan region were unique in their taste and fragrance and therefore it was very famous in entire world. He said that the festival would encourage mango growers to step forward and import their produce.Briefing the participants of the meeting, the EDO Agriculture Sardar Akbar told that a mango eating competition would take place on July 6 while certificates and shields would be distributed among the stall holders on July 7.
