ISLAMABAD -  Islamabad police on Monday booked former deputy speaker of National Assembly and leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar, and his two brothers for grabbing land worth billions of rupees and started raiding their residences.Police teams were raiding suspected places to arrest the accused following registration of FIR. However, no arrest was made till Monday midnight. According to details, Islamabad police registered a case against 10 persons for grabbing inherited land of a person in rural area of the city. The head of Islamabad ordered concerned officials of Karal police station to immediately register FIR against the accused mentioned above and ensure arresting them all on priority. Taking up complaint of Muhammad Sabir s/o Muhammad Sadiq, Koral police station registered an FIR against 10 persons for grabbing his inherited land in Gangal area of Islamabad. Police registered FIR No 180 under section 468/471, 447/420 PPC. The persons nominated in this FIR are Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar, Afzal Khokhar, Imtiaz alias Taji Khokar, Siddiq Sadiq, Yaqub Sadiq, Shah Nawaz Janjua, Imtiaz Janjua, Mustafa Janju, Zahoor (naib tehsildar) and Rana Fazal Din (Tehsildar Rawalpindi).The FIR further states that complaint was earlier tortured by these accused and he was also humiliated by SHO Secretariat Police Station.Islamabad police sources said that further investigation into matter was under way.PTI finalises candidates for by-polls Staff Reporter from Islamabad adds: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday finalised the party’s electoral candidates for the upcoming by-polls to be held across the country on August 22.According to a press note issued from PTI Central Information Cell, Asad Umer will contest polls from NA-48, Gul Bacha Khan from NA-1, Imran Khatak from NA-5, Dawar Kundi from NA-24, Umer Farooq from PK-23, Engineer Adil from PK-27, and Malik Adnan Khan will be candidate from PK-70. The decision was taken during a meeting of PTI Parliamentary Board that was held at Islamabad with Chairman Imran Khan in the chair. The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Javed Hashmi, Secretary General Pervez Khattak, Additional Secretary General Saifullah Khan Niazi, Punjab President Ijaz Chaudhry and KPK President Asad Qaiser.In the meeting party’s preparation regarding upcoming by-polls were discussed while names of candidates had also been deliberated upon. Imran himself conducted the interviews of all candidates who had applied for party tickets.Finalising the names of all candidates, list of KPK has been announced; however, Punjab candidature would be announced soon.
