ISLAMABAD - The Hydroelectric Neelum Jhelum project will be completed in 2016 and help fulfiling the growing energy requirements in the  country.  Talking to APP, an official said the Hydroelectric Neelum Jhelum project would produce 969 Mega Watt electricity.He said it was an important project for the generation of low-cost energy and the government was exploring all possible avenues to resolve the energy crisis.  The work on the project was in full swing and upon completion, Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project would annually contribute 5.15 billion units of cheap electricity to the national grid. Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Project (NJHEP) is located in the vicinity of Muzaffarabad.

It envisages the diversion of Neelum River water through a tunnel out- falling into Jhelum River, he said.
