RAWALPINDI - The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) expressing concern over the recent spate of price hike on Tuesday urged the government to devise proper mechanism to check such illegal trends.
“The government should take practical steps to check the sky rocketing
trend of prices of daily use items which have added to the miseries of the common man,” Senior Vice President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry  Malik Shahid Salim in a statement issued here Tuesday.
He said that government should ensure maximum smooth supply of edibles in the special bazaars set up with the purpose of checking profiteering in the open market.
He appealed that business community should avoid overcharging the consumers rather maintain respect of the holy month rather offer special discounts on the sale of different commodities.
He suggested that government should initiate an operation against the profiteers and hoarders with the aim to bring down the prices of essential commodities to a reasonable level.
“Strict punishment be awarded to the profiteers and hoarders with the aim to bring down the prices of daily use items to a reasonable level thus offering relief to the common man,” he said.
He assured that RCCI would extend all its cooperation to the government for initiating action against hoarders and profiteers.
He said that steps are required to be taken for ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the common man throughout the day, especially at Sehr and  Iftar and Taravih hours.
