SWAT - The River Swat has become the focus of tourists’ attention as large number of local residents and tourists from lower parts of the country visit Swat to enjoy swimming in the cold water.
Due to the scorching heat, people in large number visit the bank of River Swat at Fizaghat and Bypass Road.  It has been learnt that about 15 people have also been drowned in the river during the last 10 days.  However, these incidents did not deter the tourists from swimming in the cold water. The officials of administration said that those people who drowned in the river, were extracting sand from the river. The officials said that they did not ban swimming in the river due to hot weather but they kept on advising them to be careful.
Talking to The Nation, one of the swimmers Ihsan Khan said, “We come here because the weather is too hot in other areas and the excessive power outages further aggravated the situation.” Therefore, he said that we took the route towards River Swat to beat the heat.
