Islamabad: Pakistan Railways today increased fares of coaches from Karachi to other parts of country, by at least 16.5 percent. The customers have denounced the government’s act terming it unfair.

People angered by the increase in railways fare said, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has apparently decided to squeeze Eidi out of customers’, pockets instead of giving them relief. Following the hike, fare of  Karachi to Lahore business class has increased by at least Rs 500 to Rs 700 while, the customers will have to pay Rs 700 to Rs 900 more to travel from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

The Railways authorities have said that the relief given to the people, earlier after petroleum products’ prices were lowered in international markets has been withdrawn. However, the customers have demanded the government to retract the decision till Eidul Fitr.
