It appears a number of our misguided politicians accept India's theft of our waters arguing that Indians are in pocession of the upper riparian and are building or have already built some 44 dams. But the same politicians object to an equal split of 37 % each between Punjab and Sindh in case of the water to be collected at Kalabagh dam. The Indian argument is that the waters they hold up would otherwise be wasted unused into the Arabian Sea. These politicians, it appears, are clueless about the cost input to industry of power. It will shortly hit Rs 16 then Rs 22 and then go up to Rs 25 per kwh. Another way of solving the loadshedding problem is that we stop using electricity generated at that price. -MASOOD HASAN, Lahore, June 1.
