ISLAMABAD (APP) - The government is likely to announce new Hajj Policy- 2009 next week after approval of the Cabinet. According to private TV, State Minister for Religious Affairs Shagufta Jumani has said that licenses of those tour operators would be canceled who failed to deliver proper services to pilgrims during the Hajj. The government had already announced in consultation with PIA Hajj fares for this year would be reduced 15 percent. Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Kazmi said the Federal Board of Revenue has been asked to give concession in the federal excise duty on air tickets for the pilgrims. The government has also requested the Saudi government for an increase of 10,000 pilgrims in the Pakistani Hajj quota. If the request is accepted, 170,000 Pakistani pilgrims will perform Hajj this year, he added. Heritage of Punjab conference tomorrow International conference on Sufi Heritage of Punjab would be held at Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (UAAR) on Wednesday June 3. Objective of the conference to promote cultural activities of various Punjabi traditions, culture, poetry, history and language, said a UAAR press statement. In addition, the conference is also aimed at promoting sufi and inter-religious harmony in the country, it added. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi is scheduled to be chief gust at the inaugural session of the conference where as Federal Minister for Zaqat and Ushar, Pir Noor-ul-Haq would be chief gust at the closing ceremony. Two sessions of the moot would be chaired by Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rehman, Sajjada Nashien Eid Gah Sharif and Pir Sultan Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Shah of Astan Alia Sultan Bahoo.Renowned scholars, poets and other prominent figures are scheduled to participate in the conference. Conference on mango cultivation on 4th The Horticultural Foundation of Pakistan (HFP) will organize national conference on mango cultivation here on Thursday, June 04. The conference is being held with an aim to assess the improvement and progress made in mango production, processing and marketing within the country and efforts being made to boost exports. Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture, Nazar Muhammad Gondal is likely to be the chief gust of the inaugural session of the conference.
