KARACHI - Sindh Minister for Health Dr. Sagheer Ahmed has said that scouts can play a vital role in disaster management and their services would be utilized to solve parking and other problems of Civil Hospital Karachi. This he said while addressing a recognition ceremony for scouts organized by Karachi Open District Boy Scouts Association. Dr. Sagheer Ahmed recalled scouts performing untiring duties during Muharra-ul-Haram and Rabi-Ul-Awal and other occasions and said they are also capable of assisting in minor surgeries besides providing on the spot first aid during any emergency. He pointed out that CHK has become very crowded with unwanted vehicles and unnecessary presence of relatives of patients and said scouts can motivate them not to encroach hospital premises so as to facilitate the patients. The Minister said that CHK is the biggest health facility in the province and people from every corner of Sindh visit this institution for treatment and providing health care facilities to millions of patients every year Having technical and trained persons for disaster management was the need of the hour, he observed and said scouts can cope with any natural disaster or calamity effectively and a scheme has been prepared to train people in this field. He said it was commendable that services of scouts are being recognised and appreciated here, which will also motivate others to become scouts. He announced that expertise of scouts would be utilised in a better and more organised manner and asked the organisers to prepare a comprehensive plan in this regard. Hasan Feroze, District Scouts commissioner and Judge Banking Court in his address highlighted the activities of scouts. Anwar Ahmed Zai, Assistant Provincial Commissioner informed the Minister that scouts were assigned duties during current intermediate examinations to curb copy culture. Akhtar Mir, Secretary Karachi Open District informed the Minister about the participating scouts group.
