LAHORE - DIG Traffic Tariq Masood Yaseen has said that strict action would be taken against those drivers who will be found driving buses or other vehicles with passengers on rooftops. In an official communiqu issued here Tuesday, the DIG directed all the divisional and circular officers and other traffic wardens to take strict disciplinary action against the violators. Meanwhile, SP Traffic Sarfraz Khan Virk met with Punjab Bus Owners Association and urged them for cooperation. Chairman Bus Owners Association Haji Abdul Aziz, Ch Nawaz Warrich, Malik Ijaz, Hafiz Mohammad Jehangir, Manzoor Ahmad Baloch, Mubashir Ahmad and circular officer Shahdara DSP Taseer Dar participated in the meeting. Highway police seize liquor bottles The National Highways & Motorway Police N-5 Central on Tuesday arrested 12 intoxicated people, and also recovered local and imported liquor bottles from Pattoki, Phool Nager and Lodhran. In a separate event motorway police foiled a car snatching attempt near Khanewal on national highway. Imran Rafi, Ali Ahmed, Sajid Ali, Amir Ali and Imran Liaqat were arrested from Pattoki, four people namely Nadim, Ali Raza, Umer Hayat and Fahad Adeel from Sahiwal and two drunken motorcyclists Iqbal and Nawaz were held from Lodhran. In another incident, patrolling officer spotted a suspicious car (LWO-9723) and arrested another car snatcher from Khanewal and later handed him over to Multan police. 14 Lesco employees given pension papers Chief Executive Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) Saleem Akhtar handed over complete pension papers and souvenirs to 14 Lesco employees who retired during the month of May from service after attaining the superannuating age. Speaking on a farewell ceremony on Tuesday at Lesco Headquarters, the chief congratulated retired employees for their honourable retirement from service and said that he had directed all officials concerned to ensure timely completion of all formalities well before the retirement of the employees every month so that on the day of retirement, no employee should face any problem. A press release on Tuesday added that all dues were paid to the retiring employees in recognition of their commendable services rendered for the company.
