Ch Manzoor likely to head Punjab PPP

LAHORE - The PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday appointed Mohsin Ilyas, a former senior police cop from Sindh, as Incharge Central Secretariat, PPP, relieving Ch Manzoor Ahmad of the responsibility. A notification to this effect was issued on Tuesday. Informed party circles believe that relieving of Ch Manzoor of the responsibilities at partys central secretariat, is a prelude to his appointment as PPPs Punjab President. It is to be noted that name of Ch Manzoor is at the top of list of the probable candidates who may be given this important assignment in Punjab. The names of Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senior Minister Raja Riaz and Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira are also making rounds as probable candidates for the said office. Ch Manzoor is currently in Geneva and likely to return in the third week of June. The slot of PPPs Punjab President fell vacant when Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan resigned on moral grounds after he failed to win a Punjab Assembly seat from his hometown, Faisalabad. The PPPs Punjab General Secretary, Samiullah Khan is currently holding additional charge of the vacant office.
