LAHORE - While welcoming cut in petroleum prices the PIAF has demanded of the government to curtail diesel prices with the same ratio as the cut made in diesel prices would hardly be doing any service to the industrial sector. In a statement issued here Tuesday, the PIAF Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Vice Chairmen Iqbal Baig Chughtai and Khawaja Shahzeb Akram said that as much as 90 percent of the total transport is being run on diesel therefore, there was a dire need to bring down the diesel prices to ensure relief to the industrial sector. They suggested that decrease in diesel prices should be at least eight percent. The PIAF leaders said that industry was already facing multiple internal and external challenges and needs immediate relief to wear off the intensity of these challenges.
