Musharraf's team managing country's economic affairs

LAHORE - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema has alleged that the present regime has failed to provide any relief to the masses as the same team of Pervez Musharraf was managing the economic affairs of the country. Speaking at The Nation Forum here on Tuesday, Cheema lambasted the deteriorating law and order situation, foreign policy and the governments strategy on war against terror, and urged the youth to come forward and salvage the country from the feudal lords. He said that the so-called custodians of judiciary and democracy in actual fact were threat to both. After the passage of 18th amendment, conspiracies were being hatched to trigger a clash between institutions, he said, adding that time has proved that February 18, 2008 general elections were held merely to prolong the policies of dictator. According to him immunity for the President was against the Islamic concept of justice. He further said that the country had faced $100 billion overall loss due to the terror war. He criticised the government strategy on war and stressed the need for a free and an independent foreign policy, however, he was quick to add that the present government, which was serving for the US, could not do the same. Expressing his disappointment over the prevailing law and order situation, the PTI leader demanded holding of a free and fair inquiry into the attacks on Jinnah Hospital and Ahmadis worship places. He said that the Chief Minister and Inspector General of Police Punjab were directly responsible for the said untoward incidents. He questioned that how untrained and less-equipped police could face terrorists who carry sophisticated weapons. He said that elite force and police commandos were performing protocol duties while the inexperienced ones were 'saving the people. He questioned that how a government, which was busy in begging and taking loans form the IMF and World Bank, could resolve problems of the masses. He said that abolition of local government system had forced the people to demand more provinces. He stressed upon the need of constructing small dams and building consensus on Kalabagh Dam for ensuring provision of cheap electricity to the masses. Cheema said that the PTI for the past 14 years was struggling for social and economic justice for the people of Pakistan. He appealed to the people especially youth to join the PTI for bringing real change in the country.
