LONDON - The National Union of Pakistani Students and Alumni (Nupsa), an umbrella organisation representing thousands of the UK university students and alumni of Pakistani origin, on Tuesday strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla. In a statement, President Nupsa Sara Aslam said the violent episode was a reminder of the near-apartheid conditions that the inhabitants of the Gaza region were living in and the resultant looming humanitarian crisis. Nupsa strongly supports efforts which aim to provide humanitarian aid to the afflicted population and believes in firmly upholding the universal principles of human equality, dignity and justice, she added. We offer our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this brazenly inhuman act of violence. Famous Pakistani journalist Talat Hussain, who has also been involved with Nupsa activities in the past, was one of those on board the aid ships and we hope and pray that he, along with other members of the crew, returns safely to his home, Sara said. She also urged the UN, OIC, EU and the Arab League to play their role in for ending the siege in the immediate future.
