ISLAMABAD Demanding the details of utilisation of the secret funds in Information Ministry, Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Tuesday demanded the report within a week, besides the details of the financial cost spent on a booklet containing Governments two years performance. The meeting chaired by Ch. Nisar Ali also demanded the report on the expenditure on the website of the President House. Information Ministry was also directed to stop granting loans to PTV Corporation, while Managing Director (MD) PTV was also asked to manage with the available budget. PAC also took notice of former Managing Director (MD) PTV Dr.Shahid Masud saying that he submitted his resignation, prior to six months and was liable to pay the gross salary amounting to Rs 5.1 million in due time of the notice period. The meeting also asked the concerned Ministry to send a legal notice to Dr.Shahid Masud in that regard. The meeting also took serious notice of the withdrawal of case filed against former Managing Director PTV, Rana Sheikh on financial irregularities of Rs.144 million. In this connection, PAC also sought explanations from the Interior Ministry and Information Ministry. While, in response to the matter, Information Secretary said that a legal notice had been served upon him on May 27. Additional DG Federal Investigation Agency Ch Sajjad confirmed that FIA withdrew a corruption case amounting to Rs 40 million against former PTV MD Rana Shaikh . On this matter, Chairman PAC Ch Nisar directed the Secretary concerned to probe into the matter, and submit a report to the Committee on the immediate basis. The matter regarding the PTV foundation also came under discussion, as the Committee was informed that an amount of Rs. 34 million was spent on PTV Foundation but output was not satisfactory.
