Supreme Court Wednesday called the parliament record about 18th constitutional amendment during hearing of the petitions challenging various clauses of the amendment, a private TV reported. The Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry in his remarks during the proceedings said that all forces are agreed over the independence of judiciary, "We are only discussing its procedure." He said that the verdict in PCO judges case has been made a part of the constitution as per the decision of the apex court. Earlier, Akram Sheikh Advocate continued his arguments over the petition filed by his client Nadeem Ahmed. He argued that the constitutional reforms committee had not the mandate of constituting the commission for appointment of judges. He further said that in UK the judges were consulted when the law of the appointment of the judges was amended. But in Pakistan the recommendations were not invited from the law commission.
