LAHORE - Security has been beefed up of sensitive installations and important points across the province following the three consecutive terrorist incidents in Lahore. Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar on Tuesday directed all the RPOs, CPOs and DPOs across the province to remain highly alert and ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in their respective areas. According to the IGP, the police officers have also been directed to take effective precautionary measures, especially in public places, to prevent any untoward incident of terrorism and deploy policemen where required. He ordered intensified patrolling around Railway stations, bus terminals, bus stops, markets, cinema halls, hotels, mosques, imambargahs, churches and other important places of big cities. The IGP urged the masses to cooperate with police in the regard, saying that in case they find any unclaimed object or any suspicious person, they must immediately inform police emergency and Rescue 15 to prevent any untoward incident. funerals of Martyred Cops held Funeral prayers of police officers/officials, who embraced martyrdom in terrorists firing in Jinnah Hospital, were offered at District Police Lines here on Tuesday. Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar and officers of Lahore police participated in the funeral prayers. Speaking on this occasion, IG Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar said Punjab Police was fully determined to eliminate terrorism and extremism and in this connection it was fighting with full courage and bravery. Talking to the relatives of policemen who lost their lives in the terrorist incident in Jinnah Hospital, the IGP said that he was deeply grieved on the sad incident. He told them that Rs 3 million each would be given to the families of the martyred policemen by the Punjab government; while their widows would get life long pay besides government job would be provided to one member of each family.
