MULTAN - The All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) Multan Chapter established a hunger strike camp outside Multan Press Club against the denial of raise in salaries on Wednesday. The camp was led by APCA divisional president Rana Iqbal Noon and a large number of clerks joined it. The participants of the camp carried out non-stop sloganeering against the government. Talking to the journalists, Rana Iqbal Noon said that that governments reluctance in accepting charter of demand was highly condemnable. He said that concurrent increase in prices crushed worker class and the situation would further deteriorate if 200 percent raise was not given in coming budget. He demanded of the government to keep forth price index before increasing salaries revive selection grade and move over and offer promotion on additional qualification. If our demands are not met, well be forced to launch a country wide protest drive, he warned. RALLY AGAINST INCOME TAX DEDUCTION: The members of State Life Field Workers Association brought out a rally and staged a protest against the income tax deduction from their salaries here on Wednesday. The field workers assembled at Chowk Nawan Shehr and marched up to Multan Press Club where they shouted slogans against Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. They were also holding placards and banners inscribed with their demands. Talking to the journalists, they said that the field workers worked hard to earn their living and a major portion of their earning was spent in the field. They said that 10 percent income tax deduction from their salaries was a cruel step. They demanded of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of their appeal and stop SECP from deduction.
