OKARA - A girl was killed in the name of honour in village Marook Kalan here on Wednesday. Mohammad Hussain has been suspecting his his daughter Misbah of having illicit relations with someone. Yesterday, tensions erupted between the father and the daughter. Having been flared up, Hussain crushed her head with a brick and later cut her throat with a knife. The accused made off with the blood-stained knife. The police took the body into custody shifted it to mortuary for autopsy. It has also started conducting raids to arrest the accused. Separately, three workers sustained bullet injuries in firing robbers in Bahadar Nagar Farm Okara. Nadeem, Aslam and Sajid were present at their cattle pen. Meantime, the dacoits entered the corral and tried to rustle animals. On putting up resistance, the robbers opened fire on them. Resultantly, they were suffered wounds and afterwards shifted to a nearby hospital. The robbers managed to escape and police have started investigation. Traders protest against outages: Citizens including traders and businessmen on Wednesday protested against unscheduled and prolonged electricity loadshedding by burning tires at the General Bus Stand here. The protesters chanted slogans against government and Water and Power Development Authority. They also blocked the road leading to the bus stand. Meantime, the business places like shops remained closed. Later, A huge contingent of police reached the site to control the situation as the traders announced that they would stage protests and sit-ins everyday against the outages.
